Do you feel lucky punk? Well? Do you?

8 February , 2013

I had a little altercation with someone in traffic this morning. And when I got to work I entertained my colleagues with a recount of it of course. One admitted to me that he would never be so foolish as to P me off in traffic, and that I actually still looked more or less fit to kill, so he was just going to stay clear for the day. 😆

Let me tell you exactly what happened, shall I?

Little jack-ass in a brand spanking new Volvo, with his mortified female companion in the passanger seat was obviously in a hurry to get wherever he was going and randomly just hooted to indicate his displeasure at being stuck with the other few thousand cars trying to get somwhere with that particular road. He’s special you know…one must not be made to wait with the general rif-raff.

Since he had been right behind me for the better part of an hour already I was getting more than a bit fed-up with his random honking, but what finally set me off was when he hooted for me to drive into oncoming traffic so that he could get into the intersection – nevermind through it – and waving and hand signalling to go with it. OH! The great injustice of being made to wait your turn! I don’t know how this man will ever recover from the ordeal?!

So I rolled down my window and gave him a stern uitkak-parade talking to. More or less along the lines of if he hoots just one more bloody time I will be getting out of my car to give him a f-ing hiding. I understand that he’s in a hurry, so are the rest of us. The light is f-ing green for them (pointing to oncoming traffic), not for him. And now he was to shut up and wait his turn, or hoot just once more – I dare him…followed by some solid glaring.

Initially I was not too sure if he got all of that screamed at him from my car to his, but it seemed that he got the gist of it because he piped down to complete silence after that, changed lanes and maintained a very respectable 2 to 3 car distance from me (biggest gap ever in peak hour traffic between him and however was in front of him). Once he came a bit closer, and I saw he was oggling me in my side mirror (as I was also keeping a close eye on him) and I showed him some hand signals that made it clear I was watching him…like a hawk.

Oh my gosh! I have not been this worked up by traffic and road rage in aaaaages! I could do without all the excitement to be honest. *whoooo-saaaaah*

Now for some totally unrelated photos of my adorable pink terrorist:

  1. Flip no, I will stay way clear of you my friend!

    • Hahaha…I’m a little lamb…until you cross me. 😉

  2. I would never, never, NEVER, freak out in the traffic. I’m too scared someone would pull out a gun and shoot at me – seriously do you never get scared?

    • I’m a lot more reserved when Nicola is in the car with me.

But on my own I don’t get scared, nope. Plus you kind of judge the situation when you’re in it.

  3. Hahhahaaa…good on you…flippin Brat, whose does he think he is?

    • Exactly! 😉

  4. Oy. You and my DH are the same person. I HATE when he does that. I actually don’t confront people in traffic. Like Marcia, I am afraid that they will take out a gun and shoot me or something. But yes, he does sound like a brat.

    • I keep a lid on it if I have someone in the car with me, and for taxis I prefer just going “blind” on the side that they’re trying to squeeze in from.

I should probably just point out that have never actually gotten physical with anyone in traffic, I’ve just given them a proper earful now and then. And from where I’m sitting it’s self-defence. 😉 I’m not saying I couldn’t kick someone’s ass if I wanted to (because I can), but I won’t go there unless they come at me first.

I have had plenty of arguments with people who are armed, and to date none of them have tried to shoot me – not even the guy driving the taxi. 😉

  5. Oh how tempted have I been to tear into someone in traffic! I LOATHE it and I am SUCH a bitch behind the wheel!

    • Hahaha…I see your road hog tweets every now and then. at least you don’t have to venture out into peak hour all that ofter anymore right? 😉
