Happy Palm Day!

31 May , 2009

palmtree

Every year on the 31st we celebrate Palm Day at our house. Palm Day is the anniversary of my baby brother’s survival from a horrific car crash that happened when he fell asleep behind the wheel and drove into two palm trees. It took them 45 minutes just to cut the car off him and he spent two weeks in hospital (ICU and High Care) before coming home to stay in bed for another two months before he could walk again.

Every year I give him a little palm tree with a crushed ball of foil (to symbolise the silver car he drove way back then) in honour of the big day. 😀

The accident happened in 2003 and we’ve been celebrating his survival ever since! I’m so grateful that we get to remember this day for what happened rather for what almost happened.

Cheers! Here’s to your continued luck and good health brother bear…
