10 Days – Day 8

22 October , 2019

The rocks attacked again today. Blergh! Probably just reminding me that this is not the time to be backing out.

Aaaaaand…it’s raining! Softly but with thunder, softly the water not the rumbles. It’s a good type of first of season rain.

Chatted to my pal in the UK today. She wrote off her car yesterday but thankfully she and the kids are all good and other than whiplash, mostly unharmed. We actually had such a lovely chat and made each other cackle in ernest.

We’ve been buds since more or less Grade 1…maybe Grade 2 ๐Ÿค”. People used to mistake us for each other so a meeting was inevitable. Turned out we got on like a house on fire. The identity confusion continued.

Hope you’re having a gooood day. Excuse me while I go do my pretzel impersonation on the couch. I can’t say I was super productive today. I found the Capitec Livin it Up game. HIGHLY addictive! And blissfully distracting. My character is battling to pay of debt, haha…figures! Difference is I can reset and try again on the game, not that easy in real life. Nonetheless, a really brilliant little game with lots of useful tips on how to be better with money.

10 Days – Day 7

21 October , 2019

What a time to be alive…

The world has lost its mind, and we have front row seats. You know, it will be interesting to see how history books remember this period in years to come.

I think about this quite a bit when I see world leaders and the shenanigans they get up to. Does anyone else feel like everything is going well and truly pear shaped? Is this how people felt before the world wars? Sometimes democracy ties itself up in knots and trips over itself.

โ€œThere is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.โ€

Maybe the heat is getting to me. It is soooo crazy hot and dry here at the moment. Hopefully we see some rain tomorrow if Accuweather is to be believed…but despite its name it is usually extremely un-accu, and the storm lilies are quiet, so I won’t hold my breath quite yet.

My pal in Polokwane tells me their taps have run dry. They are bathing their kids in the pool and it’s getting shallower every day. The municipality drives around giving spotfines for anyone with signs of living lawn. Farmers are saying the citrus trees are dying and lemons will soon cost as much as avos.

We are very ready for rain.

On the other side of the world is a little Greta who seems more and more sensible by the minute. I hope your (and Nicola’s) generation does better at this shit than mine.

There are too many parts of the world where you can almost chew the air, and people will debate if it’s a genuine health rish but legislate the hell out of deli sandwiches that may have been in contact with a single sodding sesame seed because one highly allergic person died and it wasn’t labeled.

What a time to be alive…

10 Days – Day 6

20 October , 2019

Today was NOT one of my most productive days. It started out well enough.

I got up and baked scones…that’s right…I baked! Not only that, they were actually edible!

Then I started catching up on ironing. Blergh! I hate ironing. Got about half way through my formidable pile before all energy left me. I felt about as energetic as a washed out tea bag.

Spent the rest of the day on the couch dozing in and out. For the life of me I could not keep my eyes open. Andy was a busy little bee while I was doing my couch potato impersonation. Felt super guilty for not helping, but I just couldn’t stay awake.

Oh well, maybe tomorrow?

10 Days – Day 5

19 October , 2019

Today was a good day.

No pain, or very little really, hardly uncomfortable, got lots done at home and then visited with the family and had a swim in the afternoon.

There were spectacular clouds around, teasing us not only with the possibility of the first rains of the season but also maybe, just maybe, a thunderstorm.

Alas, the storm lillies never lie…it blew over and still no rain.

My mom is having one of her premonition chest tightness episodes. She’s only actually had one before, and that was when my brother had his car accident and ended up in ICU for 2 weeks, and bedridden for 2 months.

Hopefully it’s just extreme sinus this time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

10 Days – Day 4

18 October , 2019

Altogether a pretty good day.

Last night Bfly sent me flowers (a little misunderstanding, she thought I was having the op this week). It was a really sweet gesture and just the pick me up I needed.

Not to be dramatic, but do you think I should update my will? It’s a less than 1% risk, but if something did happen to me it would cause a lot of chaos because I think the last time I updated it was when Nicola was born.

We got to go to my nephew’s new school concert. It was adorable, and he’s such a natural on stage. Looks like he’s really happy at his new school.
