The BIG bash

21 December , 2014

So initially I had something completely different planned…but after extensive consultation with the birthday girl we established that Nicola wanted exactly what she had last year with a different themed cake.😉

Oh well, if it aint broke don’t fix it, right?

So the theme she eventually settled on was balloons and hot air balloons.

The cake was painstakingly put together by my brilliant mom again. It looked and tasted fantastic as always.

Thanks mom!

And we did a little bit of decorating too…

David, the balloon and party game genius was luckily available again too, and kept everyone well entertained.

Nicola with her winged unicorn as requested.🙂

Waterslide!

Food, food, and more food!

image

And once again we had the greatest weather one could ask for imaginable – so the waterslide was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

This had nothing to do with red bull.😉

Girls vs boys tug of war. One all.

🙂

This had something to do with capturing tails.

Yumm…

Sack racing.

I was surprised that my dad had the strength left to hold his own cup of coffee after flinging so many little ones down the slide!

My aunt and uncle.

Some guests had to check out for a bit between the first act and the second…what is this second act I hear you ask?

Well since the Saturday fell nicely between Nicola and mt brother Riaan’s birthdays we had another party that afternoon/night for my brother too.

image

The kids redecorated for the second round…

Some just watched a bit from the sides while dodging cameras.

Riaan’s birthday cake. Cream cake with popping candy!

Birthday boy.

I didn’t take a lot of photos of the second act…but you get the idea.😉

A few more party photos by Denise…

…and Riaan.

Soap station.

image

Ah look! I was there too.😉

image

Different vantage point on the games. I quite like how it was framed by the plum tree from here.

image

Nicola is knee deep in birthday gifts, and she’s already had loads of fun with the sand art. SO glad we did this one outside…but it sure makes for pretty pictures.🙂

Thank you to everyone who helped make the party special, and especially my family without whom this just wouldn’t be possible.

Xxx
