Week 14 : It’s a lemon!
4 July , 2009Mmm, I thought a lemon and a lime was more or less the same size – guess it depends on how long you leave them on the tree? So from seafood we move back onto fruit.
BabyCentre says this week my baby looks more or less like this and is the size of a 3,5 inch lemon (that’s 8.89cm).
I am happy to say that we’ve felt a whole lot better this week. Almost no morning/noon/night sickness to speak of and I slept through almost every night instead of the 2 or 3 times up for a bathroom run way I’ve been doing the last few months. From what I understand this is going to be a short lived pleasure so I’m squeezing every ZZzzz I can out of it.
No weird dreams this week either, I kind of miss that though – some of those dreams were very entertaining!
This was actually a pretty significant week for us. You see, the project that I’m working on allocated to is still on hold. Not only is it very frustrating to only be able to work one week per month, it’s also not bringing in the money that I need it to bring in. In a few months time I will have to go on maternity leave and it would be super if I could have saved up to some extent for that instead of twiddling my thumbs waiting for projects to get off hold while I can still be very productive. Grrrr!
So I needed to come up with something to do, and I have. My mom is helping me put it all together and as soon as I’m ready to roll on this I will let you all know exactly what I’m up to.
It feels great to have a plan and not just feel so helpless about this work situation. Maybe the stress of that is also what contributed to the sudden bout of morning/noon/night sickness for the last few weeks.
I’m feeling super healthy and positive at the moment. My only complaint is Winter. I am tired of being cold now. Bring on Spring! I am more than ready.
Oh, remember I told you that everyone was pregnant at the moment? Well, I sat down and made a list. There are exactly 10 that I know of. later today there will be 9, because my cousin’s wife has gone into labour this morning and they’re expecting baby Liam’s to arrive any second now. (I think he’s about a month early!). I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well there, and I can’t wait to see the first photos of the new member of our family. I only get to meet him in December when he’s parents are coming over from the UK to Christen him in Cape Town (maybe I won’t even get to go them, because I’ll be too far along to fly and I probably need to stay close to my doctor in the last month).

I thought a lemon and a lime were about the same size too. Probably because I’m too lazy to buy the real thing and rely on the plastic squeeze bottles of juice that are the shape and color of a lemon/lime.
I can appreciate your frustration with your projects, especially given all of the givens. Hope your plan works out.
Good luck hun, hope things come right soon!
You sound happy and hopeful
You sound happy and hopeful
Aren’t limes smaller? Then again, my lemon tree produces monsters.
Glad you’re feeling healthy and that you’re plotting away
I’ll miss your weird dreams too.
Jon, thank you – I hope so too!
I started on the first step already this weekend. It’s a bit harder to do than I though, but I’m very excited about what this could mean in future. Sorry for all the secrecy, promise I’ll reveal all soon.
Wenchy, I am!
And about bloody time too.
Tamara, I really don’t know if they are smaller. I guess so? I think from now on I’ll just give the inches measurement with the fruit mentioned so that it will make a bit more sense (hopefully).
Don’t worry about the dreams – I have every reason to believe they’ll be back soon.
Thanks Rox!
I’m glad we’re back to fruit.
If we were going to do sea food then we should have started with Sea Monkeys and kept the progression.
I think fruit gives us good coverage though I’m not sure what’s bigger than a watermelon … maybe a great pumpkin?
only a couple more weeks and you’ll be able to find out if it’s a girl or a boy. you ARE going to find out if it’s a girl or a boy, aren’t you?
Well good luck with the allusive plan! I am sure you will make a right success of it! I cant agree with you enough about winter – I am also pretty sick of it. The layers and layers of clothing, the greyness, having to wear socks everyday – urg! Hope you stay healthy and happy Louisa!
Heh… there are 8 on my list, and today it becomes 7 when baby Arkwife arrives!
JD, I really really really hope we don’t progress beyond watermelon into great pumpkin territory!
Rebecca, I definitely want to know. In fact, the doc has already given me an indication of what he suspects. But until he’s a bit more sure I don’t really want to announce it – if he’s wrong it could lead to a very funny dressed kid.
DT, thanks. Except for the flu of a few weeks back I can’t really complain about my health, thank goodness. I can’t wait for Spring and some warmer weather…not only is it becoming increasingly difficult to get all of me covered up and warm in a way that doesn’t resemble a hobo, but the cold actually hurts sometimes – more especially in my now VERY sensitive breast area. Un-fun. I stay home to cuddle my microwave beanbag – that’s all that helps.
Angel,
well, I had 10. Sunday one arrived, then they were down to 9. Yesterday another one announced, so back up to 10! Then Arkwife went in a week early, so back down to 9. And then Acidicice announced last night – back up to 10! My mom cautions everyone about drinking the water – it’s getting a bit insane round here with all the baby showers we attend.
Have to agree with you on the dreams! They can be quite fun!
Acidicice, you already have them?
Nice! I had one last night – but it wasn’t as cool as the previous ones, maybe I’m easing back into it again.
