Poem Day : Own Happy
18 May , 2008![]()
I had an absolutely delightful walk along the beach this morning. I added a photo for you and yes, I know it looks like nasty weather but it was just overcast…I think it’s meant to be winter or something and today was at least 26′C if I had to guess. Anyway, I had a nice walk, breathed a lot of fresh air, cleared my head so that I could go back to my studying this afternoon and all that and also got to chat to my entire family back home while I was walking cause they called me and passed the phone round on their end. *sigh* That was really nice…
Later I was chit-chatting with my cousin Melanie via SMS - or trying to anyway! At first I thought she must have accidentally left her predictive text on or something cause I could hardly figure out what the heck she was talking about…turns out she has her own dialect and it “almost” makes sense it you sound it out. How is this easier/faster/whatever if I have to phone her for a translation anyway?!

The rest of the day I spent mostly studying, and every now and then having a look at what the house-mates were up to with the burglar proofing. Here are the two lads busy measuring prison bars for one of the bathrooms. Alexander says we also need a dog…with lots of teeth…something fearless! So after a brief discussion about whose dog it will be when we all move eventually it appears that our part of Sector 3 will be pooched up by the end of the week or so. We found fresh tracks in our garden this morning - meaning someone was in our yard again yesterday. Also the neighbourhood father-figure, Howard, has send out a list of all the crimes here in the last 3 months. We feature on this list 3 times! This is also how I know this is sector 3 by the way - Howard told us there’s a Sector 3 community meeting with the Police on Thursday. I wish I could go but I’m still at work that time of the day…perhaps I will ask Sparrow if I can go?
Anyhoo, I am in pretty good spirits today. Grinning. Yip. Happy as the day is long. Why? I can’t really say, I just am. So in that frame of mind I wrote you something a little silly for this week about being happy and taking ownership of your own happiness instead of relying on other people to do it for you. Hope you like it.

Very nice
> taking ownership of your own happiness
That’s the key. Decide. Own it.
It reminds me of the “Last Lecture” where Randy Pausch says decide to be a Tigger (when choosing between being an Eeyore or Tigger — just decide)
Wow jy het nou net my Maandag môre vol happiness gemaak….. dis aansteeklik…
Jy is so reg, as meer mense net wil besef dat geluk binne jouself lê, en dit niemand anders se taak is om jou gelukkig te maak nie, was hierdie aarde al LANKAL ‘n beter plek…
Louisa, ek bespeur ‘n vreeslike onreg hier by jou blog… Ek like dit niks… Ek tag jou opslag om 1. Jou matriekafskeidrok te wys en 2. ‘n video te post wat vrygestel is in die jaar wat jy gebore is… So - kom aan die werk girl!
J.D. : I am most definitely a Tigger!
). Hou maar dop, dis oppad…
i love the poem! and i am so glad you’re in such a good mood- made me smile to read it!!
Thanks angel
