Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
14 May , 2008![]()
The event we’ve all been dreading anticipating was delayed by a couple of days. The BigBoss who was supposed to arrive on Monday will be joining us today…and we’ll kick off this happy time with a little test this morning. “Fun, fun, fun”. I’m very glad that I am well acquainted with the subject matter of the test, because nothing less than full marks will do.
However, for some reason (fate maybe?) yesterday was not a shining example of a job well done for me – so I’m hoping that it won’t be too painful anyway. It’s not that I didn’t try my best, because I did…it’s just that in our company’s rules Trying means Failing.
*sigh*
Well, I’m not going to let this cast a shadow over my day. In line with the keys of the keys that I’m implementing I will simply repeat the following mantra : I am more than what I appear to be… I have all the seeds of greatness within me… today will be a BRILLIANT day!… I will go about my tasks with integrity, courage and kindness.
Also, I will take special care not to use the word “but” in any context whatsoever since I know that it’s a big red flag to this man. He considers it a fighting word and becomes completely unreasonable when he hears it (I will avoid this word to the extent that even my butt will today be referred to as an ass should the occasion arise to mention it!).
I’m a bit worried about Sparrow. He’s been very quiet and almost withdrawn this week – either he’s “anticipating” this meeting more than us, or maybe he knows something he’s just not saying?
Today, the 14th of May, according to the Special Events Calendar, is supposed to be the day to Dance Like A Chicken – looks like we’ll be doing it on eggshells then?

Well, I’m not afraid of that cute pup!
Trying means failing, huh? … I thought failure meant you simply found another way how NOT to do it
Here’s a tip to make the most of your BigBoss. Find one thing you truly respect about them and focus only on that. Try to learn that one thing from them. Make them your mentor for that one thing. I know this technique sounds simple, but it works.
What an adorable little guy! Sounds tricky – the whole ‘but’ issue! Good luck I am sure you will do exceptionally well, especially with such a lovely inspiring mantra!
that is the cutest little thing!!!
my hat off to you BUT i would NOT flourish an such a work environment BUT hope everything is ok BUT i’m sure it will be
The pic is so cute…enjoy the dance on eggshells
ooh i hope it went well louisa…
J.D.: You’re right, that is a good way to look at it. If I had to say what I admire about him it’s that he knows how to get people to do what he wants them to do…very handy trick if you’ve got it.
DT: It’s not so bad – my strategy is working just fine – every person was called in for a one on one with him yesterday and he only had nice things to say to me so I’m feeling great!
Plus some of the advice on how to get more out of what I’m already doing has already paid off, so I’m not complaining.
Stef: Hehehehe…Ass you know, I’m a tough cookie – and not easily intimidated. However, I do like to pick my battles, and I see no reason to have a crap day if I can avoid it by just cutting out another B-word.
Wipneus: Thanks! So far so good…I still have plenty of space on my dance card left.
angel: Actually, so far it’s been great for me. I’ve done two deals this week and there are another 3 in the pipeline already…(this pipe line is also sometimes referred to as the Be-Back-Bus in our company, I trust at least one or maybe two of those passengers will get off where I expect them to, so hold thumbs!).
BUT, I am to late again, BUT I hope it went well…
I would cry if I worked in your company. A lot. Then I would sulk.
Pikkelik: Two days down and he’s here till next week Wednesday – so far so good!
Don’t believe: Oh yeah, we’ve had some of that…more of the sulking than of the crying though. It’s not the kind of place where you get ignored when you sulk. You just get bullied and loaded with attention (the negative kind) till you snap out of it.
