Long walks on the beach and so on…
11 May , 2008Okay…I wasn’t actually going to post this today. But after all the doom and gloom of my previous post/s I decided I better give you something positive to look at too or you might all run off and slit your wrists!
I think I mentioned that I had to go buy and read a improve-yourself type book for the imminent arrival of the BigBoss? Well the one I picked up had so many similar theories and “Keys” that initially I though that I had actually just wasted my time and money getting it.
However, upon closer inspection it appears that I may have been mistaken. What sets this one apart from some of the others is that it does actually have not only the “Keys” but also some handy scheduling suggestions on how to go about implementing all these wonderful ideas (turning those keys as it were).
So it’s with this mind-set that I set out this morning for a brisk walk along the beach. I am meant to be doing this or something similar for either 5 hours a week (exercise wise at least – it must be something that will make me breathe deeply), and I’m meant to spend an hour a day by myself thinking…ta-dah! For my next trick watch me multitask at spiritual enlightenment – Whoohooo!
(Here’s to spending time breathing deeply while alone thinking! Look…don’t judge me…you try staring at a rose for 20 minutes as the book suggested and see what you prefer?).
I’ll keep you posted on how the turning of the other keys progress as I go along, but for now I thought I’d just share a few piccies with you from my walk today.

I lost track — I don’t know what the deal is with the BigBoss. When I hear BigBoss I think of either Tony Soprano, The Frog, or Mr. Burns.
I’m always surprised how many books tell you the common sense part, but leave out the insight. Hopefully these posts serve you well:

* Five Conversations to Have with Your Boss – http://thebookshare.blogspot.com/2007/12/five-conversations-to-have-with-your.html
Tell me more on where you need insight and hopefully I have stuff to rock your world.
Hallo! Those piccies makes me blue…. I already miss summer. Have a great week.
It looks quite cold, (the beach of course) but I must admit that I prefer the sea to any other place. Now, start staring at that rose before you loose that damn key…
Does dreaming whilst having a nap count as thinking alone time?
J.D. : The BigBoss is so called because he is the second in charge of the whole company, and because he “ever so slightly” resembles a giant.
I’ll pop over to your links a bit later for a read, thanks for the info!
Jo-Ann: You see, this is where is comes in handy being originally from a summer rainfall area. My mind hasn’t bent round winter=rain yet, so somehow I’m just not as cold as anyone around me.
Pikkelik: Mwahahaha…do you think an iris will do? I’m fresh out of roses, so it’s iris or lettuce this time round.
Netjane:
No. But I like the way you think! Napping is also mentioned, but in an afternoon kind of way. The author suggests getting up with the sun and then having a nap sometime in the afternoon.
Souns like my kind of author! I love naps, (do you think I can get that book in pictures to show my children, they hate naps!)
Beautiful pics. Excercise …. well the bike is calling, but there is something wrong with my ears
Pikkelik:
There is no pictures in this particular copy, but I’m sure it won’t be too hard to make your own illustrations for it?
Wipneus: Aaaah, looks like you feel about bikes like I do about running? It might be great exercise…I don’t care…I only run for spiders.
those pictures are stunning- and if one of your keys is a daily walk on that there beach then i say “HELL YEAH”!!
angel, I don’t get to walk there every day…mostly because it’s already dark when I get home and it’s kind of dark when I leave home too. Allegedly it’s sorta safish – but I still have too much JHB in me to wandering round the beach on my own in the dark. Weekends I go there at least once for a nice long walk, more if I can fit it into my program.
