Tinkerbell and the Peri-peri cruise

14 November , 2007

First off, let me begin by apologising. I have a new colleague in the office soap opera to reveal and it’s been so busy that I am only a week late with introductions. How rude! - please forgive me…

*dramatic pause*

And I shall call her Tinkerbell...

The new lady, now known as Tinkerbell started working there last week Monday. The reason why I am calling her Tinkerbell is because she wears a bell round her neck (nope, not kidding), see all makes sense now doesn’t it? I don’t just randomly come up with these name you know?! ;-)

My impressions so far is that she is hardworking, eager, friendly and capable. Honestly, I have not managed to find one single thing wrong and any warning signs whatsoever that she might be the next scam artist just passing through. My prediction is that she will stay a while and already she’s taking a lot of strain of Simma, which is excellent!

Another cool thing is that she comes from Cape Town, so I get to practice saying ick instead of ehk for my trip down this weekend. Whoohooo! I’m going to Cape Town, I’m going to cape Town! :-D *dances round singing* And for all the English only folk, the ick/ehk thing is really all about the Afrikaans word “ek” that means me, which gets pronounced very differently depending on where in the country you hear it.

Other news: My parents have lost the plot again…seriously. My mom has bought four tickets to go on some 94.7 (Radio Station) Peri-Peri Cruise to the Portuguese Islands. That’s okay - I don’t mind that. But, she is now trying to sell two of these tickets to me and my brother. I see only “a few” problems with this.

  • Firstly, I don’t eat stuff that burns - oddly that usually includes Peri-peri.
  • Secondly, I don’t listen to 94.7 - and going on a cruise full of radio DJs is a high risk manouvre. Think about this for a second, if I do ANYTHING stupid or I in any way manage not to fly under the radar there would be a good possibility that I’d be ratted out on air.
  • Thirdly, I think R3200 for a weekend is a bit extravagant.

You can never say never, but at this stage I am willing to say - highly unlikely…

    mwaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaaaaaaaa

  2. angel, Tinkerbell doesn’t seem exotic enough for you - I would have to think about it first before I give you a name.

You have bells on your shoes? That is so coool! I have this think warm scarf that has bells on it, but if you wear it in a certain way you can’t see them - you can just hear me approaching by the jingles. Especially running up and down stairs.

  3. 94.7 peri peri cruise…you’re not serious!! those tickets sold out in 4 hours. fork, i wanna go!!!!!!!!! you are one lucky bunny!!

  4. Beg, borrow, steal, or pawn the money. Ignore the DJ’s, look how much people had to pay or do to get noticed, like Ferdinand.
    Go for it

  5. Stef & Graham,

I decided against going…and so did my brother. I think maybe soonish we’d rather take that cash (and a bit more) and do a week or two away somewhere over the water, instead of spending a weekend on the water going somewhere and coming back without really spending much time anywhere except the floating hotel.

My parents are really looking forward to it though - it’s actually something my mom’s really wanted to do for years now. :-)

  6. Yeah…rather go over the water…you and your brother, You guys deserve it!!!!
