Weekend festivities
21 May , 2007Note to self: do not schedule a squash game on the same day that you plan to go dancing and more specifically don’t sprain your ankle! Yes, that’s right – I orchestrate a big night out and then injure myself to make it more of a challenge.
But…if you think that a sore foot was going to keep me from the big night out you are severely mistaken! Besides, after the first few drinks I hardly felt it anyway.
I thought I’d take a lot more photos than what I did eventually. The flash is fantastic, so far I love the new phone and all it’s little tricks. I would have taken more photos but it turns out that at least one person has to stand still to take a proper photo and that’s the person who is taking the photo. We had too much fun dancing and being hooligans, that’s my excuse – but here are a few that I stood still long enough to take.
On the bright side: the sprain did wonders for my studying, since it kind of inspired me to stay in one spot and spend some quality time with my books. It was absolute agony walking around, so I perfected this one and a half legged limp-jump-walk manouvre for when I needed coffee. At my own house this would not be a problem in general because I have a spare kettle set up right there where I need it. However, I did not get to spend much time in my perfect set-up because it’s my gran’s birthday. I wisely decided I’d get more studying done at Wanette’s house than in my own three-ring-circus. Although we did take a break to have lunch with the family at least. Here’s the birthday girl! My grandmother – 75 years today (and she still doesn’t colour her hair – oh please let me have some of those genes).

Bly jy’t die dans geniet en sterkte met die voet en die studies.
Hi!
Congrats for Gran – mine is 90 but very grey from very young! She looks like she could still party up a storm.
All the best with the exams! Break a leg (no pun)!
Be good, otherwise, be careful!
Krista: Dankie man!
Jo-Ann: My gran is amazing! She can still party up a storm, you’re right. I think she’s too busy to allow herself to get old. She camps and ice skates and she tells me that she wants to move back to JHB now and start working again because she’s bored. I admire her spirit! She’s very fiesty, but I guess if you had 6 kids as difficult as hers are you’d need to be a tough cookie too?
Hi Louisa
A very Happy Birthday to your granny. She is the same age as my Dad and sounds to be just as fit as he is. My Dad still cycles about 300kms a week and plays tennis once a week. Suppose he also had to be a tough one with us four kids
Hope your foot is doing better and it certainly looks like you had a lot of fun over the weekend.
Wench: Thanks, my foot is basically good as new again. I heal quickly I guess? The weekend was an ansolute blast! I’m really happy I took some me-time, the constant studying has been driving me battier than usual.
