This week in a nutshell
1 April , 2007Since this is my first weekly update in this spot I thought I’d take a second to explain it… Initially I tried to manage my OCD and only allowed myself to update once a week (always on a Sunday) along with the weekly quotes (always five), but recently it occurred to me that I am on-line every day anyway and if I only blog once a week it tends to become extremely wordy updates (I like to ramble on – what can I say) and mixed in between in all will be anything funny or remarkable that I experienced during the week. So now I’ve revised my action plan and I blog anything interesting I come across during the week separately and keep the long wordy updates for Sundays. This way if what you really want to see is just a picture and a few lines you can skip the Sunday post and just look at the rest.
It’s been another crazy week for me, but not in the usual way. I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress because I was tired of the posting problems that I had there (along with the people of Singapore), and the fact that I couldn’t get anyone to help me resolve it. I’ve only been with WordPress for a week now and so far I love it! It’s very easy to set up if you are happy to just tweak one of the standard templates (I’m sure it would probably be just as easy if you actually made out heads or tails of actual programming and could make your own too – but that’s not relevant to me).
I had a slight problem with a customized header (see this cute little cactus picture above) that wouldn’t stay put if you clicked on any links, but all I had to do was e-mail WordPress’ help once and a very friendly and efficient Mark mailed me back almost at once to help me sort it out. I love that! A help desk that actually helps…Thank you!
On other matters related to blogging: Congratulations to everyone who participated and won at the recent 2007 South African Blog Awards.
Some other news that might interest you is that I spotted this cool new ice cream fridge at Pick and Pay this week on the weekly grocery run. (pun intended)
Haägen-Dazs is apparently the cat’s whiskers of ice cream, according to my ice cream addict (and subsequent expert) friend Wanette. I have to admit I have not had it – but from what I hear it’s well worth the hefty price tag. And wouldn’t you just know it…I just may have a reason to throw myself into a tub of comfort food.
Anyone who says that “No news is good news” has no idea what it means when that actually happens. John has disappeared without a trace. Last I heard of him was on Tuesday afternoon when he wrote me an e-mail telling me that he loved me…and then…nothing. I have been unable to contact him since then and whatever has befallen him can only be less extreme than all the things that I have imagined.
I am distraught beyond recognition…and helpless to do anything about it. I am hoping to hit bottom soon so that I can start to feel better. (The theory is that from there you can only go up)
Hope you all have a great week ahead. And enjoy your April Fool’s day today. No pranks from me this year, I’ve decided to behave (just a little bit).

I hope that you will hear goo news from him soon. I understand how distraught you can be, I will keep you in my mind.
Thank you…I appreciate that
Häagen-Dazs is awesome, albeit pricey. You should really try it out. They have a Häagen-Dazs outlet in Sandton City and that is where I had my first taste of it, at R50 for two scoops!!!
I think you should buy yourself a tub to get you through the absence of John, I hope you hear from him soon.
*hug*
Hey Freddy!
Thanks for the comment(s)
I hope I hear from him soon…thanks for the hug buddy.
How’s your next two weeks looking? Want to come over one night for pie and skinder?
Hi, thanks for the pic!! And yes Haagen-Dazs is fabulous, already had the vanilla and the chocolate is in my freezer! It is definately the best ocmfort food!
Hope you hear from John soon!!
And please let me know how the spa was, I’m dying to go to one!
Wanette,
The spa was …awesome… I’m so relaxed right now it feels like i could be poured into a bucket.
